| September 18, 2008 Opening night was a hit! The 7:30 p.m. played to a packed audience with actors, photographers, and notables in attendance. We answered three questions: (a) Will most people like the movie when they see it in theaters? Answer: a resounding "yes"! The laughter, applause, and cheers told us that Corky's Hot Ice became the movie we hoped it would be. (b) Who is the audience for the movie? Answer: much broader than we thought! We originally made the mistake of thinking that it was a "niche" movie for only certain select audiences, but discovered that it appeals to liberal (and that's not a dirty word) urban/suburban adults without regard to gender or ethnicity. The movie is very diverse, and the audience for it has proven to be equally so. (c) Our experiments in digital projection were successful. Using blu-ray or DLP both produced sharp, bright, and beautiful images. The next step is a city-by-city theatrical release scheduled to start in early 2009. Stay tuned! August 28, 2008 been a busy month! We confirmed our final two theaters: Century Tanforan and Landmark Plaza. I want to thank Century With just two weeks to go, we're getting excited about the opening. We decided to wait for our release in San Jose, so on September 12, 2008 we will open at the Landmark Opera Plaza and Century Tanforan. We have confirmed actors for Friday and Saturday to appear at some of the shows to give away free autographed pictures. We'll try to generate a little bit of a party atmosphere at the Landmark for opening weekend. Corky Alumni News One of our stars, LeMay, who plays the title role of Corky Hotpoint, was very recently seen on the Bravo Network's Project Runway! We always knew that LeMay has exquisite taste in fashion. Check out the official Bravo website for more details. July 31, 2008 It's been a busy month! We confirmed our two opening theaters: Century Tanforan and Landmark Plaza. I want to thank Century and Landmark for inviting us! We are excited and proud to have Corky's Hot Ice in these outstanding venues. Corky's Hot Ice has had floats in two parades (San Francisco and San Jose), booths at local festivals, and...this is a secret...there may be a Corky's Hot Ice Day declared in one of the south bay cities very soon! Stay tuned. Corky Alumni News Corky co-star Rajiv Shah just had one of his screenplays accepted into the New York IFP Film Market. This is an outstanding accomplishment since only 40 screenplays out of thousands are accepted. Rajiv will be doing the rounds to meet Sundance people, agents, etc. MEET RAJIV ON OPENING NIGHT OF CORKY'S HOT ICE TO GET HIS AUTOGRAPH! (Actors and autograph times to be announced.) He flies to the Big Apple the very next day to do the Film Market. June 16, 2008 We launched our promotion two days ago, and already there is a lot of excitement with requests for press kits from around the Bay Area. Our promotion will keep expanding and intensifying in the coming weeks, including a colorful splash in San Francisco in two weeks. February 19, 2008. OK. I understand what a blog is now. I'm not that old! Hello, everybody! The last of the post-production was completed last week. The finishing touches on the high-def picture were done by Alex at Rough House in San Francisco. The sound was by Tom at Disher Music & Sound, also in S.F. They're fantastic people to work with, and I highly recommend them to any producers. Corky Alumni News Corky co-star Rajiv Shah appears as one of the hunting buddies in the upcoming horror flick Pig Hunt. Yay, Rajiv! There's a gory picture of Rajiv on the website www.pighuntmovie.com that I am calling "Debbie's Revenge for Epperson Running Off With JJ." You'll understand this joke when you go see Corky's Hot Ice. Our video engineer Rich Wong directed a wonderful low-budget indie feature called Colma: The Musical. It was distributed by Roadhouse Attractions for a limited theatrical run, followed by a DVD release by Lionsgate in late 2007. Way to go, Rich! See www.colmafilm.com for more info. Buy the DVD from Amazon or your favorite retailer. You'll enjoy it. Mark Alexander, who plays JJ, now owns a beach front property in Central America where he likes to stay several months each year for sun and surfing. HE'S INVITING EVERYONE WHO READS THIS BLOG TO VISIT AND STAY AT HIS HOUSE FOR FREE FOR AS LONG AS THEY WANT! Just kidding. In fact, he didn't invite me to visit even for an hour. So, what's up with that, Mark? February 4, 2008 (My First Blog Entry!) Huh? What's a blog? What am I supposed to do with this? |

| * Hey! Don't turn your nose down at Modesto! George Lucas grew up here and based his movie American Graffiti on his experiences. Not only that, but a legend of stage and screen lives here, Carol Channing! One of our documentary film makers even won an Oscar a couple of years ago. So there! |
